An unrestored Piaggio Vespa  150 GL ('Largebody') scooter.  Featuring the trapezoid headlight, 'eye' speedometer and access panel in the left hand cowl to a small stowage compartment.

Pretty and stylish. The classic Vespa.

Complete, in unrestored 'barn-find' condition.  Please note that our purpose is not to cosmetically restore this machine or even source missing items of trim or replace anything else that is still functional (unless it is required for MOT). We intend to retain as many of the signs of its age and previous life as we can so its next owner can decide to either tackle a cosmetic restoration, or alternatively to just maintain it in it’s current, patina’d state.

To date we have:

  • Completed NOVA registration with HMRC.
  • Acquired a 'Dating Certificate' (i.e. confirmation of manufacturing date) from The Vespa Club of Britain.
  • Carb & fuel system cleaned, replaced section of 'age-hardened' fuel line and the Vespa now starts and runs.
  • Corrected various prior wiring ‘repairs’ and the scooter also now has a full compliment of lights and horn.
  • Found that at some point in the past the battery has been removed and the wiring for it trimmed back, so the bike (and lights) now work directly from the charging system when the engine is running. It is not our intention to reinstate the battery (although we are advised this is still possible).
  • Fitted new tyres.
  • A new rear light lens have been ordered (as the patched up original rear lens would probably leak in wet conditions, but will be included in the sale).
  • The Vespa has successfully passed the MOT and has been test ridden (speedo not working).
  • Received a UK registration document in our name from the DVLA.
Our Vespa is now ready for sale in its unrestored but running state and the asking price is £2495 without warranty.
