Volkswagen Beetle - Oval Ragtop (1957)

- Engine: 1198cc, 4 cylinders
- Bodywork: Black
- Interior: Cream/Red
- Transmission: 4 speed manual

1957 Volkswagen 'Golde' Sunroof Oval Beetle. LHD, 4 speed manual transmission. Imported into the United Kingdom in 2005, since which it has seen 4 keepers.

This car was part of Drew's own collection, and is only being sold as he found an uber-rare, 1952, Sunroof Split 'crotch-cooler' Beetle to replace it with. And no, that one is not for sale! After always lusting after one, and taking over 20 years to find the one he wanted, this has been a hard decision to let it go, but nevertheless it is still one of the best-looking Beetle variants that Volkswagen ever produced.

MOT exempt (as a pre-1960 vehicle), there is also no Road Fund License fee to pay, although one must still be applied for in the usual manner!

The interior features recovered front and rear seats, a quality reproduction three spoke steering wheel and period accessory sun visors. There are no repeating indicators fitted to the car as it retains it's original fully working, flip-up 'Trafficators' or 'Semaphores' to signal your intentions!

The engine has been given a mild 'old speed' performance boost in the form of twin carburettors, a centrally mounted FRAM oil filter assembly, and a stainless four outlet period style performance silencer. Both engine and gearbox were serviced less than 200 miles ago. Suspension has been lowered slightly front and rear to improve the stance of the car, and American specification bumpers have been fitted. The car has been converted to 12 volt electrics, American spec headlights (with Carrera grills) and also benefits from dual circuit brakes.

The main point to note about this car is how solid the main body and chassis are. The panel work and paint are not perfect but the car is still very presentable and usable as-is. The only corrosion of note is a small area to the bottom leading edge of the bonnet, it is only noticeable when opened and viewed from underneath, it is repairable (not included in the purchase price).

Will be supplied with: 2 sets of keys; V5; HPI certificate; a Volkswagen Museum Dating Certificate has been applied for, but has not arrived at this point - it will be forwarded to the new owner.

Our hours are: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm.
